Harvest & Vineyard
This Chenin Blanc is composed of two parcels, both from dryland old vines planted in Stellenbosch. The majority of the fruit comes from Geluksoord, near the Bottelary Hills, farmed by the du Bois family. The remainder is sourced from Karibib in the Polkadraai Hills, tended by Jozua Joubert. Both vineyards are rooted in granitic soils, which contribute significantly to the wine’s character. Karibib, with its stronger maritime influence, brings freshness and tension, while the warmer Geluksoord site lends weight and richness. The grapes were hand-harvested, transported to the cellar, and chilled overnight before being processed the following day.
Winemaking
Both parcels were whole-bunch pressed to stainless steel tanks for gentle overnight settling. The juice was then racked into large, seasoned French oak barrels, where fermentation began naturally. Once dry, the wine remained on its gross lees for six months with some stirring. Full malolactic fermentation took place in barrel. Just prior to bottling, the wine was racked, sulphured, and protein-stabilised, then gently filtered.
